Glossary
The terminology used on product pages and certificates of analysis, in plain language.
- Lyophilised
- Freeze-dried. The peptide is supplied as a dry powder or cake in a sealed vial, which keeps it stable far longer than a solution.
- COA (Certificate of Analysis)
- A per-lot document recording identity, purity, the analytical methods used and the testing date. Every lot we sell has one.
- RP-HPLC
- Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. The standard method for measuring peptide purity as an area percentage.
- MS (mass spectrometry)
- Confirms identity by measuring molecular mass against the theoretical mass of the sequence.
- Net peptide content
- The share of vial mass that is actual peptide, excluding counter-ions and residual water. Always lower than gross weight.
- TFA salt
- Trifluoroacetate, the counter-ion left by the purification step. Acetate salt forms are available for some compounds on request.
- Endotoxin
- Bacterial lipopolysaccharide contamination, measured by LAL assay and reported in EU/mg where relevant.
- Bacteriostatic water
- Sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, used to reconstitute lyophilised material for laboratory work.
- CAS number
- A unique registry identifier for a chemical substance, useful for cross-checking a compound in external databases.
- Molecular weight
- The mass of one mole of the compound in g/mol. Needed for molarity calculations after reconstitution.
- Sequence
- The order of amino acids in the peptide, written in single- or three-letter code from the N-terminus.
- Lot number
- The batch identifier printed on the vial. Enter it on the COA page to pull up that batch's documentation.
